Christine Anderson is a Glaswegian violist who enjoys a varied career as an orchestral and chamber musician. In 2016, she joined the viola section of the Hallé, where she holds a 50% job, and she also freelances with many of the UK’s orchestras.
Christine enjoys playing regularly with smaller ensembles, including the United Strings of Europe (whose latest album, ‘Renewal’, was released earlier this year) and Her Ensemble, a group set up during lockdown which challenges gender stereotypes and the gender gap in the classical music industry. She is passionate about the importance of the classical industry becoming a place where everybody can feel included and represented.
When she’s not playing the viola, Christine can usually be found drinking coffee, running (mainly to get to say hello to lots of dogs), buying too many books from charity shops, and trying to keep her houseplants alive. She didn’t learn a new language during lockdown, but she did successfully fix a bike puncture on her own.
