We are delighted to confirm our dates and venue for this year’s SWYO Summer Residential Course:

Sunday 18th August – Wednesday 21st August 2024

Millfield School, Street, BA16 0YD

How much will it cost?
Once again, SWMS is delighted to be able to provide financial support for this residential course.

For current SWMS students and SWMS alumni, SWMS will cover the full cost of a place on this course. For successful non-SWMS applicants, we ask for a contribution of £60 per day, i.e. £240 for the 4-day residential course.

Please note that we are only able to set our fees at just under 50% of the full cost of a fully catered residential place thanks to a generous subsidy from SWMS. However, our aim is to remain as inclusive and accessible as possible. If anyone is struggling to pay the £240 fee, please get in touch with t.hill@swms.org.uk in confidence to discuss options.

What does the fee cover and when will it be due?
Our residential course includes full board (accommodation in one of Millfield School’s modern boarding houses), all meals and refreshments, staff and tutor costs and hire of the venue and facilities. Meals are provided by Millfield School in their dining hall, with light refreshments available in the boarding house. Millfield School is a nut-free site and their professional catering team provide several options at mealtimes, catering for all dietary requirements.

Course fees will be payable in advance by 1st August 2024. More information about the course and payment of fees will be sent out to all successful applicants.

Will there be a concert at the end of the course?
Yes, the end of course concert will be held once again in the wonderful Johnson’s Hall, a 350-seat Concert Hall with superb acoustics.

The Johnson Hall Steinway D Piano was recently described by international artist Pascal Rogé as “among the ten best pianos I have ever performed on”. The department also has 23 practice rooms, numerous rehearsal spaces and recording studios, all equipped to the highest standard.

As everyone involved in recent SWYO projects will agree, we are very fortunate to be able to return to make music and perform here once again.
